Making new friends in 2016.

Not exactly what I had in mind.

I just finished the second half of a Trader Joe's Super Spinach Salad and if I go to the gym immediately it might reappear, so I have some time to kill. :)

This week has been sort of hijacked by an unfortunate visitor to our kitchen: a mouse. We first heard rustling sometime after Christmas, so B called the maintenance folks and they moved the appliances to find a hole between the baseboards behind our stove. They patched it and thus it was that our visitor got trapped in our apartment. So they came back a few days later to put traps everywhere, but thus far the little bugger has eluded them. He is likely running out of food, though, so it's only a matter of time.

In the meantime B is very grossed out by evidence that Visitor has been scuttling over our pots and pans as a back-alley route between the fridge and the stove, so we haven't been cooking until it's captured. And when that does occur, we will be scrubbing every surface. What fun. In the meantime there has been a fair amount of GrubHub action, or I have been attempting to bring home decently healthy takeout. This has been an interesting way to test whether restaurants are complying with the District's brand new foam container ban. Thus far, all places are 100% compliant.

And as an aside, our intern at work (who has been there over a year now and we desperately need to hire full time) told me about pre-prepped salads at Trader Joe's, which I never really looked at twice. But it turns out they have an enormous variety of them, so I've gone there a few times since Christmas to pick up a handful. My current favorite has shrimp, rice noodles, cucumber, cabbage, various lettuce, mint, and some type of gingery dressing. And even with my beastly appetite, they are pretty filling. There's some free advertising, TJ's.

Off to the gym now! For whatever reason Sunday mornings tend to be deader than I would have expected. I suppose a combination of sleeping in and church are keeping the Bros busy.

oh god, that shrimp salad sounds beyond amazing. most people are the brunch and/or church/family types on sunday, and take it as a literal rest day from the gym. to that i say, thanks god!

I get that, and I am a brunch person too! But I usually have enough time for both.
