This ought to be mundane.

Yet Kaleb and I are both ridiculously excited about this development.

As I'd been repeatedly insisting I would join an actual gym, on Tuesday I finally did. I'd done about 10 hours of work on Monday, followed by a normal but still stressful day on Tuesday and a workout at my regular office gym. Both gym and locker room continued to be so unpleasantly crowded that I'd had enough.

I took the Metro to Farragut North*, which is a mere five stops from the office, marched into the LA Fitness that's right above the station, and asked for a tour. It is sandwiched between a CVS and the lobby of the office building above, but is actually pretty roomy (in particular the basement level, where all weights and locker rooms are). And the locker room is enormous, and contains a dry sauna plus a steam room. I was so smitten with the idea of all this space for $36.96/month that I bit the bullet and signed up for a membership right away. Maybe I'd have gotten some meager discount if I'd played less interested, but no biggie. Back in 2011-12 when I worked in Crystal City, I was a member of the LA Fitness over there and it was perfectly fine, so I suppose I'm not new to the brand. I'm going to re-tag posts about that gym as LgAy Fitness 1, and my new gym shall be known as LgAy Fitness 2. :)

Before our staff retreat on Wednesday, I bought a lock, then went over and worked out Wednesday afternoon as soon as we were done. And I've been both yesterday and today since I'm off work, to get better oriented to the new place and get it into my routine right away. The manager that signed me up (Kaleb) appeared surprised that I've been in every day since I signed up; my guess is that most newbies don't quite have that attendance. But I'm chuffed about it, and would be perfectly happy never setting foot in the work gym again.

*This is technically the closest Red Line stop to home, though in the opposite direction from work, so I don't usually commute by train.
