Maybe Canada Dry is also having a sale?

Three-day weekend is finally here. Friday, like other weekdays before holidays, is officially an abbreviated day and we are dismissed two hours early. If not for the various last minute crises that came up, that would have actually happened. I went down to the office gym at 3 for a great chest and shoulders workout, helped by the fact it was almost empty. My attempt to finish my workout and then leave for the day was foiled by a last-minute crisis from a vendor that had been printing materials for us and dropped the ball right before a three-day weekend. After showering I returned upstairs and had a beer with my coworker once she was done phoning Crappy Vendor to straigthen them out and we ironed out next steps. With that drama to deal with plus the neverending fount of emails, I left work at 5:30.

Before that madness, though, it was a fine day. I made good progress on a few projects, and our usual monthly happy hour was moved up to noon to accommodate early departure. The consequence was higher attendance than usual, and by the time I got to the appetizers much of the food was gone. Luckily I'd also packed a lunch so I didn't go hungry. :)

Once I was out of work I met up with Andrew at Stoney's, and Brett, Jon Carl, and Eric D. were also there. Brett, Andrew, and I then took an Uber to Duplex and had drinks there with Jason R. It was pretty deserted which gave us plenty of room and the staff plenty of time to yell at the TVs tuned to the US Open. Serena Williams is a beast, and it was admittedly an entertaining match. Then the coverage turned to men's singles and we watched some of the Nadal-Fognini match. Since drinks turned into 9 pm, I also had a steak salad.

Not much else planned for this weekend, so I will get some cleaning done. And there are rumors that various former DC residents are back in town. We shall see if reunions occur!

Nice. Now that my vacation accrual has increased I foresee fewer full weeks for the rest of the year.
