Now the question is whether anyone will fill it out.

My eye doctor here in DC has a lot of personality, in a good way. My supposed-to-be-annual visit was last week, though it had actually been about 18 months*. He is always dressed super well, and chats a thousand words a minute during the exam about his partner and their beach house in Rehoboth and my job and how looking at a computer screen all day isn't great on the eyes and on and on. The verdict is my vision hasn't gotten any worse but my eyes are "dry dry dry" which is causing both difficulty in keeping the contact lenses moist and redness in the eyes and around the lids. He invited the new young doctor in the practice into the room to meet me and also look at my dryness. Together they prescribed some goopy ointment that I'm to apply to my eyelids for a few weeks to see if I get moister and thus less red and irritated. And of course Personality Doctor closed by saying I'm gorgeous and my eyes should match ... he's too good at this.

In completely unrelated news, I was thinking how good it'd be to make a batch of salsa earlier, and I'm very pleased to see all the ingredients are in our fridge! The hellish monthly grocery trip is worthwhile at times like these.

So, that begs the question of what I should have with it, and for that I am turning to you, LJ friends. Yes, I will design a meal around a condiment. Sometimes, the tail wags the dog. :)

*I forget to go until I discover I am running out of contact lenses, and I also forget to change out my "monthly" lenses on schedule. My solution for the future is to put monthly reminders into my calendar to swap them out, thus hopefully preventing me from wearing gross lenses for too long and thus getting back to Personality Doctor for another check-up/refill in a yearish.

I'm going to reply with a compliment that doesn't sound like one.

You're not very photogenic. ha! Meaning, pictures don't do you justice. You're much better looking than any pic I've ever seen of you. So take the compliment from the doc and don't poo poo it. I mean, he's an eye doctor so you can't blame it on his vision being bad. LOL.

I'm almost out of contacts too. Ugh. Need to make an appt.

I've never made salsa. Do you have a certain recipe you typically use? Do you like spicy, mild, in between?

Basically: combine coarsely chopped canned whole tomatoes, some of the juice from said can, yellow onion, garlic, cilantro, one little jalapeno pepper, a bit of a Thai pepper, and garlic powder. The longer it can sit to meld flavors before eating, the better.
