Maybe just a semi.

Last Thursday was my three-year anniversary at work, a small but important milestone for me. I did stay working at Duke for a total of almost exactly four years (entries about that are helpfully tagged if you are new to my LJ), but between leaving there and 2012 was a period of many early-career moves, including grad school. This org has also been a good landing space after my first full time post-grad school job turned out to be a poor fit, as I wrote when I changed jobs.

Things have certainly changed quite a bit since August 2012, chiefly that I'm now on my fourth manager. Stability on that front is certainly what I look forward to for the remainder of the year. But another bonus is that at the three-year point my vacation accrual increases to an equivalent of three weeks per year. Which, in the scheme of things is still kind of meager, but I've spent three years at an equivalent of two weeks annually so the adjustment will be nice.

Sooo as a result maybe there will be more travel blogging appearing in this space. I am also making some good financial progress that will allow me to have a decent travel budget to play with, which is crucial.

hurrah to more travel! i'm honestly at this weird place where i'm like "i can purchase a place, and forgo traveling, or travel, have the experiences and forgo the condo".... the recent trip to london has the pendulum swinging in favour of travel again.

Same here! I have a longish-term plan (certainly subject to change) to buy a place, and more travel is baked into that budget.
