Not a bad deal for all the meals I'll get from that cart.
Per the last entry, I definitely have used this three-day weekend to socialize and recharge (and have some decent sex).
I also fit in the monthly grocery shop yesterday. I have "grocery shopping enthusiast" listed on my Twitter profile, and it's probably more true than people realize. For the monthly trip when we stock up on everything from meat to spices, I like to go to the giant supermarket in Alexandria rather than any of the smaller (but still nice) stores around us in the city. It usually takes about two hours and the bill can be a bit of a shock, but it's worthwhile. Just this morning it felt like a mini-luxury to have milk to put in my coffee again after doing without for several days.
Also, this store is one of the only that contains all of the Latino and Asian ingredients that we use under one roof. The variety of cooking that Brian does requires two kinds of soy sauce, fish sauce, saffron threads, mojo criollo, and an array of other ingredients I've never previously used. It's been fun to learn about them and compare brands.
This trip took me just about the usual time, even with decent crowds there. One woman in an adjacent aisle spent a lot of time yelling "CREAMED corn. No, CREAMED corn! CREAMED!" but fortunately I didn't have to go into that aisle to witness the canned vegetable-related meltdown.
