How much can it cost to copy an entire set of keys?

You don't wanna know.

A "fun" thing I haven't had to deal with in several years*: Brian lost his keys at work Saturday. He didn't realize this until he was getting ready to come home, so as a bartender, this meant he called me after 3:00 a.m. to ask me to let him in the building. Soo I did that and went back to sleep eventually, but not right away.

On Sunday I met Blake and Jack for brunch at Sixth Engine. I got there first and agreed to wait at the bar for a table to open up, but we ended up just eating at said bar and it was random but pleasant. The bartender was in the midst of reciting quotes from The Sandlot with other patrons, as well as mixing a wide variety of things, including what smelled like a steaming saucepan of whiskey on a hot plate. At other points he chopped up a giant pile of ginger, so the scents were quite varied. Blake and Jack were watching various NFL games, which interested me far less. I ate nachos and had two micheladas; most indulgent meal in a while.

Work was pretty straightforward today, and the holiday treats are still pouring in from coworkers' homes. I left there at 6:30 to head to Wonderland; Brian had my keys for the day so I was to pick them up. Turns out he did find his; he'd lent them to a coworker on Saturday night to open and restock the paper towel machine, forgotten he did so, and just never gotten them back. Happy ending there. Also it would have been less than ideal to have to get a new copy of the car key. I celebrated with an IPA while I did the crossword and listened to the random music playing from whomever's iPod. Then I got a burrito and came home.

Chance of snow in the morning! If it's going to be cold like this, might as well get something out of it. And I've had more than my fill of cold rain for a lifetime.

* We are both pretty neurotic about not losing keys, phones, etc. The last time I locked myself out of any place I lived was 2010 in Ann Arbor.

Aha. How long have you two been together (not that I am nosy or anything)?

I've been far too Type A since childhood to not obsessively keep track of all my stuff. :)

I did also leave my cell phone in a taxi a couple of years ago, but that was more of a slipped-out-my-pocket situation. And I got it back!
