Happy Day of American Exceptionalism, LJ.

Did I get that one right?

Yesterday didn't turn out to be a quiet partial day of work as planned, but such is life. In addition to working on two time-sensitive projects, it was the last day for one of my co-workers who got a job with a real estate developer. So in the midst of the work, ten of us managed to take a few hours to go to the Dubliner for a farewell happy hour. I learned what everyone is cooking for today and probably too much about the travails of raising teenage sons, but it was a fun bonding moment.

Today, like last year, we are heading to Keith and Tristan's house for dinner. Brian is doing mac and cheese and has the brined turkey ready to shove into their oven, and I will be trying to replicate a calabaza squash and corn recipe from childhood. It's really the only New Mexico thing that goes well with the "traditional" Thanksgiving menu, but should be fine. I'm driving Brian over now so he can help out in the kitchen (and he does have the turkey, LOL) but then coming back to prep it in my own kitchen, which will be blissfully quiet. If I have the time, I may go upstairs to the gym for a quick workout too; it was completely empty when I was there last night.

Happy Thanksgiving, LJers in the States!
