mood: lazylazy
music: Yes, most of these involve food and/or beer.

From seven days ago already.

  • When I arrived at the Marriott, my room keys wouldn't work (or so it seemed). I returned to the front desk and waited while a clerk tested them and confirmed they were fine but that "you have to pull up instead of down; they just installed the doorknob upside down."
  • Thursday Dinner at Elmo's with a very green waitress and then drinks at Tyler's Taproom with Tyler (who is regrettably not the namesake of the bar) and John.
  • Taking over the Six Plates patio Friday night and the amazing pork shank risotto I had for dinner! Everyone else had something that looked yummy but included tomato foam that they politely avoided; glad I made the decision I did.
  • Eating a sushi boat for Saturday dinner at Sushi Love, then going across the way to Local Yogurt where a sweating, wild-eyed guy ran up to the counter as we were paying to beg for milk because he'd just done his first habanero challenge.
  • Saturday night at Fullsteam, where a quite drunk girl started writing FUCK DUKE and COACH K SUCKS on the dry erase board strip on the bar surface, then silently wrote SUCK IT in front of me when she saw we were all watching her.
  • Sunday brunch at Guglhupf with Tyler and Rex, including a rousing game of Spot the Hottest People.

So do they have to inform everyone who gets that room that the doorknob is installed upside-down?! That is insane.

Maybe I was the only guest too dim to figure it out. Still, it would seem there is an easy fix for this.
