I love the construction noise and the long deli lines.

City life, she is a mean one.

As I've said here before, my apartment building has been under renovation for the entire summer. We're finally getting some results, including new washers and dryers in the laundry rooms and new hallway floors, but it's still loud and annoying. There's also a rowhouse across the street being gutted, and they've been the source of much noise and annoyance this week. I can't quite figure out if it's about to get better or worse. I also miss sleeping beyond 7:20.

There are also two construction projects near my office: the sidewalks and planters in front of the bank in my building are being redone, and the building across the street is being completely gutted. I can't hear it most of the time from inside, but getting to our entrance is always interesting and as I discovered yesterday, it's difficult to find a quiet place to make a cell phone call. I'm sure the D&B operators I've been on the phone with think I'm calling from inside a bulldozer.

Anyhow, annoying as it is, I'll soon have a pretty apartment building, pretty new sidewalks, and fancy renovated buildings all around. Happy construction-free Labor Day weekend, all.
