OK Go, MGMT, Amanda Blank.

I can totally do this. Just give me a few hours to climb up there.

Oh my, it is cold and snowy. Over the weekend we had highs of 47 and I think it made everyone a bit crazy for two days, but now we have reality back and it is 16 degrees with a wind chill of 2. Snow is still pretty okay by me, but I'm not so enthusiastic about waking up in my freezing bedroom and not being able to take my mega-padded Ikea comforter with me to class.

Anyhow, I'm coping with good music and indoor activities. Recently those latter have taken the form of random college sports that I've never seen before! I went with Tracy, Katharine, Nick K., Nick R., Chris and his girlfriend to a hockey game last Friday, vs. Ferris State. Despite having not great seats and not knowing who Ferris State was, it was fun! We won 2-0, and there were smells of brisket wafting up from a VIP buffet below us. I want to attempt to see another one, especially because the arena is one block from my house. On that note, if you come to a U-M hockey game, don't block my driveway or you're getting towed. >:(

On Sunday I took an invitation from LambdaGrads to attend the first men's gymnastics meet of the year, vs. Penn State. It was an arduous two blocks from my house, but somehow I managed. We were originally inspired to go by a call from Michigan Athletics for more attendees, with a reward of $500 for the organization that attracted the most students; apparently women's gymnastics attract far larger crowds. Our group didn't come close to winning that challenge, but nevertheless these events are really really cool, and we sat there for hours amazed that no one broke any bones. And we won the meet, to boot. I plan to also see more of these, because their advantages over hockey are as follows: 1) free (the hockey game was fun, but the ticket was $22), 2) much warmer arena, 3) more eye candy. I am a Friend of Michigan Gymnastics. I also need a real camera to be able to take action shots. The ability to zoom would be nice, which my last (crappy) phone had and my current one apparently doesn't.

Ummm...Gymnastics is the best sport ever. I fully support you attending these meets. Yes yes. And work on getting a camera...I demand photos.

Oh! I forgot about your gymnastics connection! But yes, it is the best sport ever. The next meet is on Feb. 13, and you will hear about it here. :]
