But it's still fun to try to fit insults into 140 characters.

Although I am posting a lot over at my Twitter account, I still heart my Livejournal and intend to keep updating here. After all, its 7th birthday is on Tuesday. I may post something super nostalgic on that day if I can produce something that's not too lame.

I'm doing much better than for most of the last month. Also, the weather turned totally nutty and it was 71 degrees today, so I went running outside, and that felt great. Now I need to turn my attention to preparing for travel. I'll be in Orange County (the California one) in two weeks, and hopefully definitely will get to steal some time to go to L.A. Then two weeks after that I will go to Chicago. Going to the same sites every year is kind of weird, but it sure as hell beats staying at home. Business travel FTW, kind of. Also, airfare and hotel rooms and rental cars are so cheap right now, so if you're looking to book a vacation, now is the time.

And some news. As I reported here back in April, the College of Santa Fe is trying desperately to survive. Merging with SCAD didn't work out, so now they are proposing to merge with the university in my hometown, thus becoming a public school and able to get funding from the state Legislature. On the surface, this seems like a much better idea; whether they will make it to this point is the question. NMHU has had a shit ton of its own financial problems, but that was primarily due to leadership ranging from crappy to downright corrupt. If this deal can get approved, both schools might be able to benefit, as College of Santa Fe has great arts programs that Highlands can't even begin to duplicate.

Finally, Val Kilmer apparently thinks he's qualified to be the governor of New Mexico. Can we please stop electing actors to statewide offices? Ugh. Also, he needs a publicist. Part of me hopes that he tries to run, just to see Diane Denish crush him like a bug.

If only I could! But there's a small chance I'll end up going back to San Jose for a conference in May, and would def go through San Francisco if that happened.

Gah, we're cursed! Heh. Well, the conference would be May 26-27 if I got funding to attend; so I'd be there either the weekend before (23-24) or after (30-31).

I would have voted for Val Kilmer 20 years ago, back when he was adorable. :)

Agreed, but he looks as thick and unattractive as Bill Richardson these days, so I'm back to judging politicans by their credentials!
