I fit in about as well as an Ionic column in New Mexico.

Clearly the Corinthian order is where it's at.

I'm back in Durham. I had 226 messages in my work inbox, not too bad for two weeks away, and I cleared a bunch of them out over lunch.

New Mexico was decent, and I still love it, but I fit in there about as well as classical architecture (the photo is another from Cambridge). I have bunches of thoughts that I may or may not write up in a future entry, but it was nothing short of jarring to be there for over a week when I'm used to life here. Complete independence is still my favorite part of life, and giving it up for a bit to the family was rough. Much less of life works on an individual basis there, and that's not a bad way to operate, but I just can't get used to it again. I did, however, get to hang out more with my middle brother and sister-in-law than I have in years, as well as my niece, step-niece, and one of my nephews. And their insane new puppy.

For now, I'm catching up on life and enjoying my own bed and house and internet connection. I am also thankful to the airline gods, for they directed Continental to feed me and get me to Charlotte 25 minutes early last night.
