mood: sillyFirst Lady Michelle, too
music: Haaaay Joe Biden haaaay, I like you too.

Will probably kill the Jonathan, but I'm going for it.

The Republicans do this and the Democrats do this. I know it's too early to call it, but I do believe that Obama will win if things keep up this way.

The Post had an article about Obama volunteers from DC and Maryland going to parts of Virginia. The way the program was described, I felt like it would only have moderate degrees of success. Sending an Australian and several Howard undergraduates to the Shenandoah Valley is just going to reinforce the notion that Obama isn't for "people like us" (i.e. working class or rural whites).

I also think the article conflates an increase in Democratic voter registration with support for Obama. I know people in northern Virginia who plan on voting for Democrats to fill seats vacated by Republicans, and for McCain. Yes, an increase in Democratic registration is good for Obama, but people may be registering for wholly separate reasons (and maybe even in spite of Obama).

I'm aware of that and have seen voter registration drive backfire (2004 FTL!), but the combination of having the other party in the WH for two terms with this is still beneficial to some degree. Hopefully enough. :|
