At least it didn't get stuck in the on position.

Recessiontastic prices!

Okay, I'm back to blogging for real! On Friday I rescued my work blog from potential oblivion by creating a list of topics and a timeline for posting them. This was after making sure that all of those entries had been backed up in case they're lost during our summer website redesign or general hackathons. In the process I read many of the 44 entries I've written there over the last year and a half and developed some sense of pride about it. Even though I haven't achieved many of my goals for that blog and it has a very uneven (and low) readership, I still put effort into writing and marketing it, and I don't want to walk away from that. So. That blog shall live on, and I'm aiming to get about a dozen new posts in it by the end of May.

This blog, however, remains my favorite and thus I am back to whine. The weekend was mostly spent getting Sam's furniture and other belongings from his house in Chapel Hill to my apartment in Durham. My place is now very ... full. I have two couches, three desks, two beds, and probably other multiple items, but it won't be too bad once I get everything more organized. And once my forearms don't feel like I've been giving HJs all month.

Last night Sam took me to Carrboro to see an awesome house he had just toured that morning. I agreed that it is totally sweet and being offered for a very reasonable rent, and the neighborhood is pretty good. It's out on the western edge of Carrboro, near a post office, a shopping center with a Food Lion and other stuff, etc. Downtown Carrboro is about a 20-minute walk down Main St., so the location was good. And oh, the house and wraparound deck are gorgeous. We will be getting a lease application via e-mail; I hope we pass. Then Sam and I had dinner at La Hacienda: good chimichangas, but not the greatest service and it definitely feels like eating inside a fastidiously decorated barn. Following that we did the last of his packing and moving, then had a farewell drink with Corinne, her boyfriend, Christina, Blake, and Cara at West End. This morning I was planning to see Sam off, but Corinne was delayed in picking him up, so I packed up a lunch, we said our goodbyes, and I came to work. I am expecting multiple LJ updates from him about Boston life in the month before I go up there to visit. *nudge nudge*

Work has been a little frantic; fortunately I am in a mood to produce whatever is thrown at me, so I've gotten a ton of things off my plate. I made some travel arrangements, reviewed some resumes, answered boatloads of e-mail (note to academics: semester's over! Go on vacation!), and designed a fancy ordering sheet for a book that we'll be hawking in Orange County next week. I did not, however, adhere to my blog publication timeline mentioned above. That is one of the brazillion tasks I will leave for tomorrow. Time to go home!
