Haunted car will run over me.

I spent a couple of hours tonight over at Emily's house. I am catsitting while she is in NY (and unfortunately she is sick while there!) this week, and so went to feed and water and amuse the cats while watching sweet sweet television. In general I enjoy not having a TV at home, but there are a few things I miss. Like Medium, the awesome show where Patricia Arquette is the Phoenix Police Department's psychic detective or whatever. It's just as good as when Sarah and I used to watch it when we lived at 920 Trinity; tonight's episode featured a haunted car. :)

Following that I talked to Sam on the phone and made my way back here, intending to go to bed. But I'm too antsy to sleep yet so I decided to turn my about-to-go-bad potatoes into hash browns. I grated all 4 of them and put half in a skillet and the other half in the fridge for later. Hash browns are a decent late night snack, although I've put off my bedtime even more by partaking in them at this hour.

I've been on a cooking jag in the last few days. On Saturday I fought the crowds of indecisive people at Kroger and refilled my kitchen, then on Sunday I made a huge brunch, including a mushroom and cheddar omelet. Tonight I had sculpted rice cylinders with chopped avocado and smoked salmon. And I also re-realized that Kroger soy sauce is nasty. I don't know how you can screw up soy sauce, but Kroger has managed this; it takes like liquid salt. After throwing away the bottle in my fridge, I shall buy another brand. For some reason Kroger-brand condiments just suck; their cocktail sauce is equally crappy, I've learned. If you ever want to know useless crap about generic condiment brands, you know where to go. Anyway, to complete my kitchen madness, tomorrow I shall make dinner for Sam in celebration of the end of his exams. Beef enchiladas with green chile, yellow rice, and beans. I have both black beans and pinto beans and can include either or both. Aren't you jealous.

Kikkoman soy sauce. :-) That's all we ever have.

And...I can't say I'm a fan of Kroger anything. :-/ One time I bought Kroger cheese, and it went bad like three days after opening it.

Yep, Kikkoman is what I shall get. :)

There are 6 Krogers in town, vs. a few Food Lions (which don't have a lot of things I like), 1 Whole Foods, and 1 Harris Teeter so Kroger usually wins out. At least I found that one of the slightly farther ones stocks way better and fresher stuff than the nearest one.
