mood: lovedAwesome day of nothingness
music: Monica "The First Night" (Monica ILU make another album!)

And lo, there were hipsters.

Yay unpredictable weather. It was 69 degrees today; Emily and I went for a late brunch at Watts Grocery, where we learned that my gift card had not been charged the last time I used it, so yay free money. Also, grits bowls rock. We then went down the street to see if the new coffee shop on that street sold the NY Times, then chatted in the parking lot for a while. I drove to the ATM to make a deposit and saw no fewer than three buildings downtown in the act of being merrily renovated, including the future bar that Eat at Joe's makes fun of in this post.

After an extended loafing session at home, I went out running around East Campus. Gorram, I wish spring would start tomorrow. It is forecast to be equally nice, but sadly winter shall come again soon after that. Oh well. It was a good weekend; Emily, Sam and I had dinner at Twisted Noodles finally. I love me some yellow curry. Then we came to my apartment and played Monopoly while drinking much beer and red wine; it's tough to be a property manager when you're drunk.

I have to be at work by 9 tomorrow so I shall try to go to bed early tonight. Good times.

Is there actually visible work going on at Gatsby's The Place Whose Name Will Not Be Mentioned?

Yes! I have now seen work going on there twice. I was going to send you a tip, but you saved me the trouble. So, here's a tip:

My friend Emily (who introduced me to your blog) hastens to mention that there is renovation work going on at Verde, which has been closed since before New Years Eve. The inside is orange now, so maybe they'll have to change the name. Okay, that wasn't a very good tip.

It's been well over a year since they started work on TPWNWNBM. Maybe there's some kind of cosmic balance being kept: the business that's gone in the little store at the corner of Hillsborough and Georgia seems to have stayed open for several months now, which is longer than anyplace else has stayed open there for maybe 15 years or more.
