Burn in hell, random crap I just threw away!

music: I found my Postal Service CD in the dungeon too!

Or get buried in a landfill. That works too.

I spent two hours tonight cleaning out my dungeon. Explanation: when I moved into this apartment, I was jazzed that I had a "study," even though it was just a small room with no windows or closet. However, I've used it solely to store extra furniture, luggage, and college (and high school!) memorabilia in the 15 months I've lived here. The floor was completely covered with stuff and it was otherwise barren, so it pretty much was a dungeon. I liked that it helped me keep the rest of my apartment neat and clutter-free, but it didn't have any other benefits.

So, I decided it was time to actually convert it into a study, or at least a room I will want to hang out in occasionally. I managed to throw away tons of stuff: boxes from various household goods, brochures and other paper from college, some notes, etc. I also consolidated the luggage and organized cords and other stuff better, so there's actually a little floor space now! I'm sort of amazed at myself; when I used to try to throw things out, I would get all nostalgic and save 75% of what I sorted, even though I still didn't use it. I just came back from hauling all that and my recycling down to the dumpster/recycling area. Oof, it was so heavy and no individual person should carry that much at once. But I did it, with only one small cut from a broken beer bottle!

Another random perk to this chore was that I found tons of sheets of paper where I used to write random quotes for inclusion in the longhand journal I wrote for years until I started this blog in 2002. I was mothafucking dedicated to that journal (Alexis can attest; she's seen it) and used to designate People of the Day, Songs of the Day, Quotes of the Day, and signed every entry I wrote. RIDICULOUS. But! The upside is that I found some hilarious quotes from those high school and early college days. I added some to my Facebook profile and have more in mind that I might add later. (And I threw away the quote sheets, since I have them individually listed in the journal.) Woo.

Typing with nine fingers is hard, so I'll stop. I have to get up early for work anyway tomorrow. I'm doing it for brunches.com.

Oh yeah, I definitely saved it. In fact, if my apartment caught fire, I would probably risk my life to go and grab it.

::LOL person gets crushed by my life::

Um I'm gonna send a decoy Jonathan to visit you first if I haven't heard from you in a while.
