Goddamn the Duke Library website gets better all the time. I haven't finished reading the fabulous queer smut I checked out in February, so I renewed it online in one click, and now I have until April 6th to finish it. Hoorah.

I am ahead in some classes and behind in others. English is going extremely well, so of course when I get no grade at the end of the semester (I'm auditing) I will have my satisfaction and knowledge from reading a billion awesome books and watching a billion awesome films to take with me. Public policy and urban anthropology are going okay; my attendance is good, and I've turned in everything (if slightly late in some cases), and I'm getting kinda mixed feedback. I need to make sure I do well on assignments in there and ask lots of superfluous questions in the second half of the semester to increase my participation grade. And fieldwork and African diaspora are not going quite so well ... I know the material reasonably well, but my attendance sucks and thus I can't really gauge how well I'm doing. I need to get my ass in gear on Tuesdays and Thursdays to fix that, and will probably spend lots of time over spring break working on stuff for those.

On that topic, I'm not going anywhere on Spring Break (save a possible short drive somewhere nearby). I'm going to use the free time to do perhaps 5 of the following 7 tasks: get ahead in classwork, rearrange my bedroom extensively, work on job searching, stalk professors using old phone books, have lots of sex, get all the tracks on every CD I own onto my iPod, and obsessively go to the gym. What are your opinions on the most desirable of these tasks?

If you'll excuse me I'm going to go have a norteno fag hag shakedown before class now.

there is a lake somewhere close to duke that you can rent a rowboat pretty cheap. that was a fun day. we landed on the other side on some private property and had a little picnic. in my case I would have to bring a friend for it to be fun. there is also an ice skating rink somewhere nearby if you're into that.

Neat ... picnics are great. I think it's Jordan Lake you're talkin about, but I can ask Ashley m'self for clarification. Thanx for the idea!
