Still covering every place in DC except the White House.

Been a very tiring but lovely Pride Weekend. Or, more accurately, half-week. The shenanigans started early on Wednesday, as we had bought advance tickets to see Wonder Woman! It was my first time in the Georgetown theater since they installed 1) the reclining seats, and 2) a bar. After the movie we went to Larry's for a debrief, which I clearly needed because the entire time I mistakenly thought the backdrop was World War II (it was WWI, aka "The Great War" which was obvious to everyone but me). Despite my badly needed history lesson I did enjoy the film and am genuinely afraid of Gal Gadot. :)

Thursday was very long, but I did in fact mail bills, go to the gym, and unsuccessfully shop for new shirts at Nordstrom Rack after a full workday wrapping up things before a three-day weekend. Then it was time for Sleaze! Didn't get the chance to meet up with Stuart beforehand, and at the last minute Andrew didn't get to attend after all but it was still grand. Met a ton of new people and spent more time out in the beer garden than I usually do at WL. I ended the night sitting with Meg on the first floor and then took an Uber home.

I had Friday off work, though did get sucked into doing a few urgent tasks from home. This is why we don't "check in" on email during days off, kids! Anyhow, it was still a mostly chill day that turned into my favorite night of the weekend. I went to the liquor store to get stuff for Andrew's party the next day, then dropped that off and met Lajuan at a friend's apartment at 15th and Mass. And oh my goodness, it was in the beautiful building that I've walked by a million time but never seen inside. The party also had amazing food: poke, rare roast beef with horseradish, various cheeses, and more that I already forgot. We ate a little and met people, then David showed up and we helped some guys visiting from Orange County plan their weekend parties, then we walked to Sotto.

They were described as "new to hosting drag shows," and it was kind of obvious. The sole performer was not on the stage when we arrived and had very long breaks between sets, so much so that we got a round of drinks, admired their interior decor, got moved to a round table right near the stage, chatted with Emily, then got a second round before she came back on. Fun show, though, and the rest of the crowd was very into it. Then we closed tabs and left with the plan to go to Number Nine but the line was apocalyptic so we instead went to Trade and waited in their somewhat shorter line. Nate B. walked by while we were there and decided to come in with us, and we had a grand time! Definitely a fun vibe and everyone was in a good mood despite being very crowded. We also met new people there, while Aaron slung drinks into our hands and everyone was generally merry and gay.

Saturday was more traditional, with Andrew re-upping his usual pre-parade cocktails and then the parade. I went over around 3, and chatted with the gathered guests including Taylor and Charm plus the usual suspects, then later B came over with Mario, Ben, and Kelly and we all had a grand time. Particular highlight was standing out on the patio with Brandon and his vaping stick shooting the shit. Then we went down to the street and watched the parade, a very positive and fun vibe as always.

This day also happened to be Ben's birthday, so from there Kelly took charge and we walked back to his car parked way over in Shaw, to travel to Dew Drop. While we were waiting for a light, Ben also got chatted up by a guy so we did what good friends do and took Instagrams from 20 feet away while we waited. :) Sara and Remy were both bartending, quite a dream team, and they were serving wine slushies and as a result I think my debit card is still there. Serg, Andy, Meg, Matt+Katie, and other assorted characters were all out on the patio, so we hung out there until well after sundown and then escaped home to order pizza.

Finally, we knew Aaron was in town but didn't get a chance to see him and catch up until Sunday. I went to the gym in the morning to work off some of these booze calories, then returned and we met at Stoney's. Turns out we hadn't seen him because he'd arrived Thursday evening and then got called into an emergency business trip to SC on Friday. Big bummer! We did get to catch up with him over brunch, at least, and there was much to discuss! He and the lady are homeowners in West Seattle now, and his company is doing gangbusters. Then he went off to the airport and we went home to nap. Pretty crazy five days, but I had a great time and we saw many more people than usual.
