Last gasp of December.

Except we only got freezing rain.

Tree is now up. I don't particularly care that it didn't get up until December 18th because in all likelihood I won't take it down until mid-January. In the next week I will need to get to at least Target, the White House gift shop(s)*, West Elm, and maybe The Gap and Best Buy to finish out my Christmas shopping. I will be working Monday and Tuesday in the office, then working from home Wednesday and Thursday until 3 pm. In all likelihood these days will be super light since my boss will be out of the country and most other people will generally be on vacation or baking cookies and last-moment shopping while pretending to WFH like me. And there's just one holiday party left, on the 23rd at Mark's house.

At least we have tons of food in the house! On Friday I roasted up some eggplant/peppers/mushrooms/red onion with a tuna salad, then we had an enormous paella for dinner last night. Many leftovers are still available for my weekday lunches, plus I have many healthy breakfast options. That makes life much easier, and much less likely that I will rely on random free food left in the office kitchen; this is a particularly bad month for whole cakes and pies to show up there. Since we aren't traveling I also get to keep my gym routine going every day except Christmas Day, when they will be closed. If I get my shit together I could even run that morning, but equally likely is that I sit on my arse and have a day off.

* There are two, which are in theory close together but depending on the bus or train I use, one will be vastly more convenient than the other. So I really hope the ornaments are in stock at the closer shop.

just do body weight exercises the chrismukkah day morning; push-ups, squats, lunges, planks. ten minutes tops... you'll be fine of the day, providing you hit the gym the day before and the day after. ;)

and as i say to my clients, more veggies, less starches, more protein, and choose to have either bread or dessert. you'll survive, and your physique will thank you for it!
