And now we get a cup of booze anyway.

Social events are starting to pile up, which is a welcome respite from toiling at work, going to the gym, then returning home to vacuum carpets. Well, I generally do more than that on weekdays, but not by a lot.

Coming up this week:
  • Justin's birthday bar crawl Monday. I'll likely only pop in to the Trade stop.
  • Drag bingo to benefit the Humane Society on Tuesday with Christian and Anthony, whom I never see anymore.
  • Ken's going away party at JR's Friday. He's moving back to San Diego after 29 years in DC!
Regarding that latter, we had a knock on our door early this afternoon and it was Ken, insisting that we take things from his kitchen off his hands. His movers come on Saturday, so there's little time left to eat a fridge full of stuff. We ended up with about 5 pounds of frozen chicken thighs, some frozen vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, and cocktail sauce from his fridge/freezer. And from the bar, bourbon, gin, some pre-made margarita mix and LIT* mix, creme de menthe**, grenadine, and bitters.

* Both of these have the potential to be mildly gross, but what the hell. We'll relive our college drinking.
** B insists he has plans for this. I eagerly anticipate what those are.

I have a friend who grew up in the DC area, lived in San Diego for a few years, then moved back to DC with his at-the-time BF. He's now been back in that area for at least 10 years but still says that he wants to get back to SD. I've always found that pull back to a place interesting. I mean, I would love to have the friends and proximity to family and even the small town feel of Blacksburg again, but I've never been drawn back to a place when my life has moved me on so it's neat to see how the world has such variety of reasons for moves...

It can definitely be strong. I have pangs of that feeling too, but visiting twice a year is usually enough to get my fill.
