Just cut myself doing costume prep.

At least blood is very on trend!

I had literally everything ready for tonight's Halloween costume and only needed to iron the pants I'd just purchased and replace a ripped shoelace in one of the shoes I'll be wearing. But no, the world wasn't ready to make it that easy for me.

To complete my costume* I needed red pants. TJ Maxx has been particularly good to me recently, so after unpromising stops early this afternoon in Urban Outfitters and H&M I just went there. Found a perfect pair of pants, tried them on and they fit fine. I also ran into Amy J. for a minute! Random encounters FTW. The line was a bit long but I made it through and my somewhat spacey cashier rang me up and I was out of there. Georgetown is also a huge cluster fuck on Halloween night so I was thrilled to get out of there before 3 pm.

Back home I did all of the necessary costume crafting, and am pleased with the results. I reached for the pants to get them ironed, and discovered ... the security tag with ink bomb was still attached. Spacey Cashier was indeed spacey.

I was absolutely not returning to TJ Maxx to get them to correct the error, so with the backing of Youtube videos I convinced myself that I could successfully remove it at home. After an afternoon of DIYing that turned out well, I was definitely being overconfident. The chances that I was going to succeed seemed higher with every minute of hacking, but then the knife slipped and I cut my finger.

Now an hour later, Brian is heroically working on the tag, and I've stopped bleeding, have bandaged up the wound, and have also cleaned up the crime scene in our bathroom. Never a dull moment in this household.

* I'll share what it is tomorrow. With photos!

HAHAHAHA I don't mean to laugh at your blood and ink misfortune, but the way you wrote about it was pretty vivid. Are you OK now?

Feel free; it was an amusing misadventure. :)

I am fine, just can't bend that finger until the cut heals.
