Jeer at Tumblr by the millions.

The Grammys were pretty weird. I'm unsure why LL Cool J continued to talk so awkwardly about "social media" as though no one knew what it was. I spent the whole time on Twitter and Tumblr enjoying the backchannel, but I didn't use CBS' idiotic hashtags, primarily because they were so awkward but also because they were just trying. way. too. hard. I was mostly pleased with the actual award winners, given how few were actually announced between all the other madness. Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Jay-Z, Gotye, and the Black Keys are legitimately talented and deserving of recognition. As for fun., well ... they seem to be hard-working and that's all I'm going to say there. :)

As for the performances, there were some decent ones and some very long ones in which I took bathroom breaks, read a few pages of my book, or packed my lunch for Monday. And I have to say, Taylor Swift is a brilliant attention-grabber; by supposedly saying one phrase "in a British accent" during the opening performance she got huge pockets of the Internet mentioning her millions of times.

I really ought to stop watching award shows; they're over-produced and waste tons of my time, and yet I just can't look away. Maybe after the Oscars.
