Does this make me an ambassador to rural America?

Between Pride, Nats Night Out, various outdoor brunches, and just walking around in the summer, my neck and arms are far darker than the rest of me. Sort of a bummer because I look weird wearing tank tops, so I am going to have to even it out soon. With 100+ degree high temperatures forecast for the next few days, I could probably do that super fast, but I don't want to actually stay outside in the gross heat. Sigh. :) While mahka42 was here last week/weekend, it was mostly very hot but also mostly cloudy and windy so at least I only got one day of direct sun exposure. We also ate at DC Noodles for what is likely the last time (they close July 1), had drinks with his old friend Fritz, and walked around Georgetown and the waterfront.

Work has been very up-and-down, pacewise. Today I was actually busy for the first time all week, and it was nice because ... the more there is to do, the more I do. Rather than working for hours on one (long-term) task and possibly making incremental progress, which is discouraging, I completed a lot of small tasks and was encouraged to do more. I even made a hair appointment for Saturday. I guess this is a good sign that I need to be where I am more frequently busy and thus more productive (not that I didn't already know this in some form; I did go to grad school, after all).

Tomorrow will be somewhat quiet, but I have a lit review to start assembling and I should definitely clean my desk. I have a crapload of stuff that needs to be filed. And I don't know how I got bagel crumbs on every surface, but it's grossing me out. :(

That's what tanning booths are for, silly. 12 minutes in one of those stand-up booths and you don't have to worry about the farmer's tan. :-)

I've never done a tanning booth, but I suppose you're right that it would be fast. Looking into it ...
