Mainly for the tubs of soda.

The Immortals was very loosely based on Greek mythology, but not to the extent that you'd be comfortable if you knew more than a smidge about it. Basically, someone evil was using his multiple slave warriors to provoke someone good into war, and tried to release immortal warriors that had been imprisoned in a tricked out foosball table, and the gods intervened and blah blah. The plot was secondary to having as many six-packed dudes impaled and/or decapitated per frame as possible. On the upside, when the gods are lounging in the heavens it looks like a Kylie Minogue video. C.

The Muppets was a decently thoughtful attempt at rekindling the joy of watching Muppets flail around and be silly. As I expected there were few kids in the theater; mostly adults that watched Muppets flail around as kids. And the plot was probably a little simplistic, but it's still fun to watch the creepy neighbor from American Beauty get punked by a bunch of Muppets. B+.

I enjoyed both films. You're right, Immortals had absolutely nothing to do with the Theseus tales, but everything looked pretty so I didn't mind. </p>

I actually didn't like the end to Muppets. It felt like a weird cop out to me. Everything was building up nicely until that point.

I got news of our plans and we left the house 30 minutes before The Muppets started so I didn't have time to create expectations, but in retrospect the end could have used some work.

Man, it's been waaaaay too long since I've impaled a dude with a six-pack.

(There, I said it! Happy now? ;-p)
