mood: shockedample snow
music: SHIFT mixes that Mikey gave me for Xmas!

And accompanied by a tower of mail.

My flight from DC landed in Detroit at 10:45 a.m. and then I endured a torturous 25 minutes of first taxiing, then waiting for a crew to usher us in, waiting for the jetway to be attached, and waiting for my pink-tagged bag to be brought up. Once freed from that I rushed to get the bus (our student government charters a bunch of buses at the start and end of holiday breaks and rides are super cheap), where I ... got to wait some more. The bus there was completely full so they had to dispatch another one. I got to State St. at 12:25 for my 12:30 meeting regarding the class I'm TAing for this semester. I dashed to the Michigan League to amazingly arrive at the same time as Professor and Fellow TAs 1 and 2. I'll talk about that later.

Following that I picked up a Chipotle burrito and wheeled my suitcase back home. It's good to be back, though I will miss DC and the folks there a whole lot (one spiky-haired resident in particular). I watched CNN anchors shout while I ate, then turned to the huge pile of mail. I got lots of Christmas cards after I'd left on the 18th (thanks, badger, crazykidben, mahka42, cheesecaketart, and Daniel!), some bills, catalogs, and every jerk bank ever wants me to sign up for a credit card.

My remaining to-do list for today:
  • Figure out my class and teaching schedule for the semester, possibly arrange to audit a class
  • Respond to a couple of meeting requests
  • Get started on the laundry
  • Possible grocery store run
  • Paunchy Shameful Triumphant return to the gym
  • Call Momma to inquire about the status of family's travel plans for my graduation in May*
  • Transfer funds into my savings account
  • Check out the classroom where I'm TAing

* I suspect she hasn't gotten flights booked because ... they don't have the internet at home. Sigh.
