And your eyes are going to fall out from reading so much.

It's rare these days for me to go an entire week without updating, but this semester has been kicking my ass just a bit. I'm slowly battling back and getting more efficient, hence I found a bit of time to blog. After spending all of last weekend trying desperately to keep up with my classes, I spent the week being more efficient and making plans to actually have fun. And oh what fun I had.

On Thursday I had class until 8:00 p.m., then went home and updated a good portion of the urban planning students' association website. It was my first tangle with WordPress, which I found surprisingly similar to Drupal, so at least I had some clue of what to do. Once I'd polished that up, I went out with Dave, Maria, and John for a couple of drinks in a very empty Circus. Maria R.'s undergrad senior thesis was about monster truck rallies! Coooool.

On Friday I was randomly up by 8:15 despite a bedtime of 2:30 the previous night, so I went to the gym, ran a bit, then showered and went to the Expanded Horizons meeting. I'm kind of bummed that I don't get to go on the Philadelphia trip, but at least I've been able to help the committee get everything in order. Following that and tying up some loose ends, I went to Cosi with Ang, Amanda, and Maria G. and then on to three presentations of the Future of Technology conference. The i-school dean was my favorite speaker, because 1) he used Prezi and 2) he wasn't an architect talking only to architects about BIM. Barf to those latter. From there I did some homework, picked up beer from Kroger, and then met Amanda to head to Justin and Jake's housewarming party. And there I finally saw Gautam for the first time this semester, and he, Justin and I had a queer caucus in a corner of the kitchen for hours; good times. Also of note was the flip cup game held in their enormous bathroom.

Saturday was also a relatively early day. Got a bunch of reading done once again, then once the football traffic had died down, I went to Meijer and Kroger (again) to stock up for the pregame at my house that evening. I decided on a whim to make salsa and guacamole, hence my multi-grocery store hunt for ripe avocadoes. Then back home to make both of those and prep the house. I also used Hype Machine to construct a playlist and it worked swimmingly. So ... 27 or so people came to the event, and we had tons of booze, then went to The Bang ... and couldn't get in because it was too full. Oops. But those of us that couldn't went downstairs to 8 Ball and had a grand time with pitchers of PBR while those who had gotten in came downstairs to visit us. Ho-rays.

Today I caught up on all that sleep I hadn't been getting, then eventually crawled out of my house and came to campus for homework. Did about three hours of reading in the Union, then came to Espresso Royale for coffee and more reading. I've also been reading up on stuff to do when my family arrives in Michigan next weekend.

A note about that: the reason I'm not going to Philadelphia next weekend is that Momma had told me months ago that she Auntie Berna, Randy, and Auntie Martha were planning to visit at some point in the fall, in conjunction with going to Niagara Falls where they're going to meet up with Auntie Laura and Guillermo who will be in Vermont for a wedding prior to that. Confusing, eh? Anyhow, they also wanted to see a U-M football game but didn't consult me on the dates before booking plane tickets. So now they're coming on a weekend where 1) I was going to be out of town and 2) the football team is away. Heh. It's not a huge deal, but I did cancel the Philly plans once I found this out. So, during the four days they are here, I think we're going to see The Heidelberg Project, do the Ford Factory Tour (I am irrationally excited about this), peer into Michigan Stadium from the locked gates, and eat a lot of random food. You ain't ready for this madness, Michigan.
