Backyard sauna and bouncy castle edition.

I have to get in bed very soon, but in brief: last night Amanda, Maria, Dave, Katharine, and I were sitting around The Arena watching NBA and drinking beers. At some point we decided to check out a party at a co-op near the canoe livery, because the previous party Dave and Maria had attended there was epic. Something about a U-Haul dance party; I didn't quite understand what we were getting into at the time.

We piled into my car, added Koben and some beer to the mix, and set off for this place. These folks know how to throw a party. It was a fantastic evening of wandering around their cabin (built in 1928), lying in hammocks, piling 14 people in their underwear or less into a pitch-black sauna, and getting crazy in the bouncy castle on their front lawn. I repeat: they rented a bouncy castle for this party. When we drove up I was pretty much like this: :D

This is what I want summer to be like. I had forgotten that undergraduates and recent college alums came in this flavor of personality, secure with their bodies and stable and fun-loving and willing to partake in alcohol but not dependent on it for a good time. As Dave had described, entering the sauna was a particularly good way to get to know people. There is not a single speck of light, so you must depend on people to tell you in words where the giant wood stove is (so you literally don't burn your bare ass on it) and how many knees away the available seats are. I encourage all of you to test your communication skills when you don't have eyes to guide you.

The only downer of the party was that Maria's purse was missing at the end of the night, but she said that it was found this morning with all contents intact. In short, I want to build a sauna at El Pino Real and I am always up for an adventure.

Wow. That's the kind of party you see in VW commercials, only the unrated version. :)

Haha, I think that's good but I haven't seen a VW commercial since the series in this icon.

Hahaha how is it you always have the most appropriate icons for my comments, regardless of topic?

It was fun, but I have to admit that the Kentucky Derby party you attended looked like the place to be this weekend.

Is this not the best discovery ever?? I am discovering similar things lately.

Do covet the bouncy castle though.

Indeed it was! However, the bouncy castle had to be returned to Xtreme Amusements or whatever the rental place was called the next day.
