Title stolen from Cat Angst, because I'm not clever anymore.

Aside from the professional stuff and career wayfinding I did last week, I had a great time eating as much as I possibly could and being shown around the city by my gracious hosts, mahka42, gregbarnes, and Dan P.

The weather I left behind.

Detroit Metro Airport wants your feedback.

I don't need to editorialize about the food I had because it was awesome enough to stand on its own. I'd just bastardize the experience trying to put it into words anyway. Highlights: brunch at Tartine, giant smothered burrito at Puerto Alegre, lamb curry at Kasa, crepes at Crepes on Cole, ice cream at Mitchell's. And oh my, the dim sum. I almost didn't survive that, and suffocating in shrimp dumplings and steamed pork buns and egg tarts would be a wonderful way to go.

How did I come home weighing about the same as when I arrived? Climbing up hills everywhere and walking in general, and having yogurt and granola for breakfast. Pictures of the former follow; if you want pictures of my yogurt and granola, you're just out of luck.

Alamo Square

From Twin Peaks

From Grand View Park. Climbing up there with Mark, Romina, and David right after dim sum was ... interesting.

Muir Woods

These trees look sooooper tall when you photograph them like this, but they're actually just regular super tall.

I was fortunate enough to meet several LJers for the first time: mahka42*, terraplanner**, and leolz, and it was fantastic to see Greg and Dan again, and meet other friends along the way. Also, Billy was in town from Raleigh for work and we got to share a dinner with him. San Francisco is good people, y'all.

Most notable, though, was Katharine yelling my name out of a car window as she and her friends drove down Market St. on the way to the wine bar. Fun coincidence, and more fun once we arrived at the wine bar and met her friends, too. One of whom is applying to urban planning graduate programs. We're multiplying.

Palace of Fine Arts at sunset

Name that architectural order.

*Yes, I stayed with an internet friend and it wasn't sketchy ... well, not that sketchy. :]
**He also cooked for us on Saturday night; I think the theme was Irish food? I don't remember exactly, but it was good stuff.

Great photos ... especially those sunset shots. And even though we've still never met, there's now at least one person out there who's met us both! I hope you gave Clipper my best.
