Also, the 1400th entry.

As expected, getting back into the school routine after Louisville was a mess. I caught some minor form of the bug that various folks there had, but for most of Tuesday and Wednesday a fever was my only symptom. What kind of illness is that? In any case, lots of cold showers and Tylenol kept me upright, and I put off a lot of errands to avoid handing people germ-tainted paperwork. I'll fix that tomorrow and Monday.

Today was a luncheon for my fellowship program, which has graduate students from across the university. One social work student and I were at a table of chemists and developmental biologists who had to rush back to the bench after the event, but I think we got along all right, and I think we all mutually understood what the others do. And I saw but didn't get to talk to a woman I met at the Minnesota open house, who apparently came here for her MPP and also got a fellowship. And I never turn down free lunch, even if it comes with questionable cheesecake.

I finished my first deliverable (a statistics lab) just a few minutes ago, and I can truly do this. Even in the class that I detest and had to miss one session already for stuff beyond my control, I'm doing fine. Over the weekend I have to do a GIS lab and more reading, but it looks like I can keep up. Oh, and I accidentally read ahead for UPC class so I'll have more free time next week to have a life.

As for classes, today's Urban Comparative Policy left me on a high mood that I haven't experienced in a while. He is such an on-target professor for me, all about the personalities and pointless battles of academia as well as what we can get out of it and run. Plus we have a gay caucus in an 11-person seminar. Hah! More about that as the semester progresses.

Woo indeed! Also, I forgot a paragraph when I originally penned this blog, so there is now more content. Happy homecoming and pride weekend, wish I could be there for all that.

I'm curious how you found out about the other 'mo in the class. Maybe, I just have really bad gaydar and can never figure these things out.

I'm happy to hear everything is going well for you and I hope you don't complain too much about the coming Michigan winter.

There are actually *two* other 'mos out of 11 of us! One was telling stories about being gay the first time I met him at a party, and the other one mentioned his boyfriend in conversation.

I'm bizarrely looking forward to the winter, for the moment, because I do like snow. We'll see how I do with the cold temps and losing my gloves all the time. :P
