mood: predatoryI'm a Gene Siskel zombie OMG
music: Janet Jackson "Feels So Right"

Yes, I watched three of them in less than a week. I promise I still go outside sometimes.

Last Tango in Paris: I think this was recommended to me by Weiting over two years ago, when we made a giant movie list at the bar at Tosca. Other folks may not be satisfied that there's not enough plot in this film, but I wouldn't be one of them. The characters really carried the story, even if it felt like they were biding time in some scenes. It was nevertheless a pretty satisfying take on what it's like to go crazy in the city, and I am now suitably terrified that Marlon Brando is going to try to rape me when I go apartment hunting. D: I'll just bring a blunt object to protect myself. B+.

Get Smart: Emily, Caroline and I went to see this on Friday night after dinner at City Beverage, for a nice mindless evening. Whether or not he intended to, Steve Carrell was really conjuring Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun series, and I liked that. But ... it was pretty predictable and mostly mindless entertainment, with a few unanswered questions that could have sealed up an okay story if someone hadn't been too lazy to bother. Also, Anne Hathaway is 25 and Steve Carrell is 46. They should not be making out. Blergh. C+.

Across the Universe: I'm pretty certain that this film was made for someone other than me. Like someone who would have wanted to experience the 60s, and use The Beatles as their nostalgia boat. I'm totally okay with folks who want to do that, however, I'm not one of them and I didn't need my 10th grade U.S. History textbook paraphrased and turned into a mediocre film for me. Also, the director seriously forgot what she was directing and it turned into Rent for about 30 minutes somewhere in the middle. I'm not kidding. D.

I have no doubt that you fully realize that your Across the Universe review describes my greatest fantasy. I'm renting it tonight.

I remember watching Last Tango in Paris about a year ago and spent most of it doing double takes. Like, just wondering: is this really happening? I then I later found out that my parents and aunt and uncle saw this movie on Christmas when it came out in the theaters....yeah, now I'm just disturbed.

I've yet to see the Beatles music flick, but I've heard very mixed things. Seems like ppl either love it or hate it.

OMG that is really not a family Christmas kind of movie, heh.

I still think that Across the Universe was worthwhile, despite my grade; if nothing else, it's fun to see the film's interpretations of all of the songs.

But I'm only 23 and I would make out with Steve Carrell... especially in Little Miss Sunshine.

...does that make me sick?

Heh, I'd allow it. But for some reason, Get Smart really just made me feel like Anne Hathaway was his daughter, and it got creepy. *shrug*
